Apple has just released a minor software update for Apple TV 3. According to the official release note, Apple TV Software Update 7.2.1 only includes “general performance and stability improvements.” However, Apple also posted a security document listing a whole bunch of security fixes included in the new firmware.
Between December and February Apple hosted a series of “Tech Talks” for developers interested in getting in-depth information on building and designing apps for tvOS. These events took place in Toronto, Los Angeles, Austin, Seattle, Cupertino, Berlin, London, New York, Tokyo and Sydney. Apple has now shared all the videos from Tech Talks on its website.
PBS has announced it will launch new 24/7 children’s services later this year. Provided by local stations, the free services include a new TV channel and live stream on digital platforms. Viewers will be able to watch the station-branded live stream through pbskids.org and on the PBS Kids app, which is already available on Apple TV (as well as on a variety of mobile devices, tablets and over-the-top platforms).
After expanding universal search on Apple TV 4 to include Fox Now, FXNow, and National Geographic TV earlier in the month, Apple now added four new channels – Watch ABC, Disney Channel, Disney Jr and Disney XD – to the list of services supported by one of the key features of the new Apple TV.
At launch, the feature was limited to iTunes, Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go, HBO Now, Showtime and Showtime Anytime, but later Apple expanded it to include PBS and PBS Kids.
Happy Tennis is a family party game built exclusively for Apple TV 4. It uses the Siri Remote’s accelerometer to detect players’ swings and allows the player to trigger moves such as volleys, smashes, dashes and ace services based on the timing of their swings.
