Apple TV sure has alot of apps/channels but unfortunately a web-browser isn’t one of them. And with good reason too. Ever tried to use the browsers in so called Smart-TVs? Well I have and can assure that using the remote as a pointer for surfing is annoying and is “injurious” to your forearm. Well, now thanks to AirWeb, anyone having an AirPlay Mirroring-enabled iOS device will be able to browse smoothly on their 40-incher.
Seas0nPass, the popular Apple TV jailbreak tool, has been recently updated by FireCore and now allows for an untethered jailbreak of Apple TV 5.3 (Apple TV 2 only). Released in June last year, Apple TV software version 5.3 added HBO GO, WatchESPN, Sky News, Crunchyroll and Qello to our little black boxes.
So you didn’t update your Apple TV 2 firmware to version 6.0 (iOS 7) when it came in September, hoping for a jailbreak for 5.3 software (iOS 6.1.4 – 10B809) to come sooner or later? The wait is finally over as an updated version of FireCore‘s Seas0nPass now allows for an untethered jailbreak of Apple TV 5.3 (Apple TV 2 only).
Apple is adding more and more content to the Apple TV: starting today, Apple TV users in the UK can access NOW TV’s Sky Sports. For £9.99, the Sky Sports Day Pass gives users instant access on their TV to all six Sky Sports channels. The pass activates immediately upon purchase and is billed directly to the iTunes account.
Apple has yet again added new content to already quite long list of channels available on the Apple TV. Among the newcomers is Bloomberg, Sony’s Crackle service, Watch ABC and Korean channel KORTV.
