AirParrot, an app that streams your computer’s screen to your Apple TV 2 or Apple TV 3 over AirPlay, is finally available for Windows. AirParrot works by encoding your display’s image as H.264 video and sending it to your Apple TV in real time. Since it also features audio mirroring, AirParrot seems like a perfect solution to watch your movies and videos on the big screen, and, especially, to bring web pages based on Flash content, like Hulu, to your HDTV.
Kanex, a group that has been proven as an innovator in Apple and iOS connectivity solutions, announced that the Kanex ATV Pro is finally available. This device is essentially an AirPlay Mirroring adapter for VGA projectors. The adapter simply converts to your Apple TV and sends the signal to an outgoing VGA plugin.
It was reported last week, by AppleInsider and the guys over at Cult of Mac, that the Apple CEO Tim Cook was spotted at Valve’s headquarters located in Bellevue, Washington. You may recognize Valve for their gaming platform Steam, and their work in creating games such as Half-Life, Team Fortress and the wildly successful Portal.
It is far too easy, and fun, to begin speculating at what this could mean. We all know that Tim Cook doesn’t spend his time visiting companies like this for no reason. So what could it mean? For me, it seems like a perfect fit. Get involved with a company to that already has a digital gaming platform integrated for mac, PC and platform games alike.
XBMC 11.0 “Eden” is finally here. That’s right Apple TV users: we finally have a stable release for both Apple TV 1 and the Apple TV 2. There are no more nightlies, betas, or release candidates! If you happen to be one of the new 1080p Apple TV 3 owners out there, feel reassured that when your device is jailbroken this release will also work for you.
A new beta of AirParrot, an app that streams your Mac’s display to your Apple TV 2 or Apple TV 3 over AirPlay, is now available. AirParrot 1.3 beta5 comes with 1080p support for the third-generation Apple TV, individual app mirroring, “greatly” improved mirror speed and some stability fixes. The new version uses an almost completely rewritten method for mirroring and encoding frames. This results in lower CPU usage and faster frame rates.
