Apple will release its own branded TV by the end of the year, according to Canaccord Genuity analyst Michael Walkley, quoted by The Mac Observer. In a note to clients, Walkley wrote:
Following our supply chain checks, we have increased confidence Apple will launch a 50-plus inch LCD-TV product by [the first fiscal quarter of 2013].
It was reported last week, by AppleInsider and the guys over at Cult of Mac, that the Apple CEO Tim Cook was spotted at Valve’s headquarters located in Bellevue, Washington. You may recognize Valve for their gaming platform Steam, and their work in creating games such as Half-Life, Team Fortress and the wildly successful Portal.
It is far too easy, and fun, to begin speculating at what this could mean. We all know that Tim Cook doesn’t spend his time visiting companies like this for no reason. So what could it mean? For me, it seems like a perfect fit. Get involved with a company to that already has a digital gaming platform integrated for mac, PC and platform games alike.
What’s comes after the new 1080p Apple TV 3? A recent revelation from Patently Apple details the technology that Apple may be preparing for use in a full-fledged Apple-branded HDTV. This new patent, published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, reveals advancements in the technology Apple currently uses in in its series of iMac computers. Hot on the heels of Apple’s latest announcement introducing the iPad 3 to the world people quickly forgot all about the new Apple HDTV hype. Prior to the announcement, if you’ll recall, there was great speculation as to what Apple would be announcing regarding its Apple TV line. It had been speculated that what Steve Jobs once mentioned as a hobby of Apple’s would soon become one of its next “big things”.
