We’re hearing from some developers that iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan use a new AirPlay encryption, which is not compatible with older Apple TV firmwares and software mirroring solutions like AirServer and Reflector.
Until now, streaming media files from a Windows PC to an Apple TV was only possible with iTunes (for supported file types only) or AirParrot (using its media streaming or specific app mirroring features). Recently released PopCast is a new player to the market. It lets you stream all of your videos to your Apple TV or Chromecast, no matter what file format.
Squirrels, the maker of AirParrot, has just added live YouTube streaming to its wireless mirroring and streaming receiver – Reflector 2. Anything that is displayed on iPhone, iPad, Android device, Chromebook or Surface tablet can be instantly streamed to YouTube when connected to Reflector 2.
If you’re planning to start using AirPlay speakers as an output audio source for your Apple TV or you want to replace your current setup with something more powerful, it’s a good time to do it as Sony 7.2-channel 4K AV Receiver with AirPlay is currently on sale on Amazon for
