Popular activist investor Carl Icahn recently published an open letter to Tim Cook, asking for an increased share buyback from the company. And among other products mentioned in the letter, he points to an earlier discussion regarding the possibility of Apple releasing its own television set in 2016.
Is Apple TV getting a refresh on October 16th?
Apple just send out invites to their next event. The Cupertino company is notorious for hiding clues in their invites, as to what to expect at their events. And the one for October 16th reads: “Its been way too long”. Though most rumors point to an early 2015 release of the next Apple TV, the tagline of the invite is somewhat promising.
Though Apple TV 7.0 software update is one of the most evident overhauls the set-top box has received lately, most users are a bit skeptical about it. Especially those relying on OpenPlex and PlexConnect to broadcast Plex from their Mac or PC, fearing that the hacks would be patched in the update. In fact, most of the comments and mails we received after the 7.0 release, were regarding Plex.
