It’s just been a few days since Apple TV added Cricket Australia, that it’s picked up another sports channel. This time it’s the Tennis Channel Everywhere app, which is the Apple TV counterpart of Tennis Channel.
We’ve been hearing rumors of a gesture-based interface for the Apple TV since Apple acquired PrimeSense, the company behind motion sensors for the Microsoft Kinect. We’ve also seen Apple applying for many patents regarding the same in the past but, we expected all of them to just disappear into the heaps of patents Apple frequently avails but never uses.
We first heard about AllCast more than a year back when it was shown off in beta on Android. Coming from the Cyanogen Mode developer Koushik Dutt, it promised the ability to mirror your phone to a variety of devices including Apple TV. Last month, it went out of beta on Android and a few days back, popped up on the App Store.
CES 2015 was overwhelmed by the smart home concept, with many manufacturers announcing their own home automation systems, while others showing off their Apple HomeKit enabled devices. And thanks to anonymous disclosures by the company spokespersons, we now probably know the exact role of Apple TV in HomeKit.
