Groovy Brings Grooveshark to Your Apple TV

by tomek on November 15, 2010

groovy apple tv 2g Groovy Brings Grooveshark to Your Apple TVGroovy, an unofficial Grooveshark client for the Apple TV 2G, has finally arrived. Grooveshark is an online music search engine, music streaming service and music recommendation web software application, allowing users to search for, stream, and upload music free of charge that can be played immediately or added to a playlist. Groovy aims to bring the Grooveshark to your living room via the new Apple TV. The developers admit that the current feature list is not long  (simple search and player functionality) but they say they are working hard on the next version with much more functionality (e.g. Grooveshark login, better search result, better player view). They also promised to release the source code in the near future. Go to the Groovy website for the instructions on how to install this new plugin on your freshly jailbroken atv.

But in case you suddenly need to pop out for extra popcorn, don’t be surprised by the nasty weather outside. Here is the WeatherFront, a weather forecast plugin for the Front Row. It fetches the weather forecast from the internet and displays the current conditions and a three days forecast for your area. Stefan, a German software developer who sent this to us says it’s not the final version, but works already quite okay. Thanks, Stef!

ATVDigiframe plugin to use AppleTV as a DigitalFrame (updated)

by editor @ AppleTVHacks.net on January 23, 2009

Based on comments made by the company behind the product to appleTvHacks.net

Our plugin allows to setup any period of time between 2 slides in the “Slideshow” screensaver mode of AppleTV. The time can be set up in 1 second steps from 1 second to 9999 hours. The standard Apple TV application cripples the slideshow mode and only allows 2,3,5,10 or 20 seconds of time between 2 slides, which is not really usable for displaying digital art. Our ATVDigiframe plugin integrates seamlessly and matches the minimalist style of the AppleTV UI.
