There's a market for getting this right and it requires pulling off the service provider integration. So far, there isn't competition. TiVO is expensive slow and dated. Windows Media Center is pricey. Cord cutting is just an experiment for most. Give people a great UI for the price of ATV and say goodbye to these sorry ass cable boxes.

Is this
the same technology Apple is introducing, that will allow customers to skip
commercials? I thought it sounded cool, as I already have Dish, the
Hopper and Auto Hop, but it turns out Apple will only allow customers to skip
ads and replace them with other Apple content. This might be cool for a
few, but with Dish Auto Hop I can skip ads entirely on my Prime Time
recordings. Dish picked me to do an employee beta-test for Auto Hop and,
unlike Apple's idea, Auto Hop actually saves me a ton of time when watching my
DVRs. Time is at a premium in my house, and Dish actually giving me
something USEFUL is a major plus in my book.
