Well, now you’ve got me curious. The version of QuickTime Player ( X ) that is included with the Lion right now does not include any Airplay icon or functionality, anywhere in its UI. If you Google around, you’ll see that many folks for the last couple of years have wished for it, though!

Until Mountain Lion comes out, the only Apple-shipped-and-approved way of sending video from MacOS to an AppleTV is via iTunes. That you’re saying you’re doing it via QTPX, and with an FLV (not MP4) video, no less, is certainly odd and unique. Are you sure? Can you share a screenshot? If that is indeed true, it is notable and newsworthy, and many folks would want to see for themselves.

And because your MBP (like mine) is too old, you won’t be able to use this new feature.  

But the old regular AirPlay will continue to work just fine.

Grrrr. I have 2.66 Ghz i7, but it is mid-2010, so no AirPlay Mirroring appears for me in Mountain Lion.  I wonder what the technical difference, if any, there is between these modesl?  

There better be a terminal hack to enable it for me, it’s the only ML feature I was looking forward to… yeesh!
