My Crystal powered original ATV is happily playing 1080p mkv on XBMC with no jailbreak required. Comes a point where you have to wonder without a jailbreak how many people will look for alternative streamers or media players that are not locked down.

What else.. That tweet is misleading. 5.1.1 has been jailbroken on all iDevices except the ATV3 and tweeted by pod2g yesterday. And 5.0 was already jailbroken on the ATV2.
The minor update to 5.0.1 seems to not have patched the exploitable code – which is odd! So, guess we’ll never see ATV3 hacked.

I would assume the jailbreak applies to ATV 2- NOT ATV 3?
